Put your address in Harris County Infastructures web site http://hcpid.org/permits/property_search.html, put in your address and zip code and a page will come up with information about you property.  If you scoll down a color photo will show the flood zones if they are near your property.

If you are in a special flood hazard zone on the flood map does that mean you will have to pay a higher insurance primium.   No neccessaily the flood map was done over large areas and does not show the actual elevations of the ground a your location.   Town and Country Surveyors can help you by determining the base flood elevation and then acatually doing an elevation certificate on your property.  Often the property will be a higher elevation than the base flood zone.  If this is the case the cost of flood insurance goes down.   Unfortunately it does not mean your property will never flood.  If you are above the base flood elevation you have less than a 1% chance of flooding in a hundred year flood event.
